| Budget Proposal Statement
The House and Senate have passed a $21.4 Billion budget for FY 2008-09, and it
awaits the Governor's signature in the coming days. The bill passed 97-20 in the House, and 32-14 in the
Senate. The budget includes:
- $50 million in certificates of participation for
the Natural Heritage Trust Fund and Parks and Recreation Trust Fund. The debt
would be repaid through general appropriations rather than the trust
funds' revenues.
- $4 million in appropriations for the
Agricultural Development and Farmland Preservation Trust Fund.
- $1 million for a conservation-based
affordable housing program, one element of the Landing Jobs program envisioned
by Land for Tomorrow.
These new funding streams are in addition to $100
million for the Clean Water Management Trust Fund included in the budget and existing dedicated
revenue streams for NHTF and PRTF.
