One NC Naturally, a program of the NC Department of Environment and Natural Resources, promotes and coordinates the long-term conservation of North Carolina’s threatened land and water resources.  Its mission is to:

• Lead in developing and implementing a comprehensive statewide conservation plan
• Maintain functional ecosystems, biological diversity and working landscapes through the stewardship of land and water resources
• Implement a plan that will conserve and restore the State’s natural heritage and sustain a healthy life for all North Carolinians and visitors
  

This critical program has not had a steady source of funding, and Land for Tomorrow believes that its mission of planning and oversight will be even more important when the North Carolina increases its funding for land conservation and historic preservation.  We are therefore recommending that One NC Naturally receive an additional $2.8 million per year for five years.
